TERENCE CLIFFORD-AMOS

Dr Terence Clifford-Amos grew up among the pastures and meadows of the Wirral countryside, where he developed an interest in the natural world. A move to Worcestershire in the late 1960s introduced him to fly fishing, mostly on the river Teme, where at Powick, and further upstream at Ludlow, he developed an interest in trout and grayling.

Terence’s education includes the Royal College of Music, London and the Universities of Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Wales. In 1987, he undertook research at Oxford and Cambridge.

Most of the author’s professional life has been in higher education, as full-time lecturer, researcher and external reviewer. For fifteen years he was also visiting lecturer for MA programmes at l’Université Catholique de Lille, France. He has visited more than thirty countries as chair of university reviews, accreditations and as a consultant, mostly in Central and Eastern Europe. Terence has several publications in English Language, Literature and Education. Since 2008, he has worked on various international projects with the European Commission, and with the EC from 2017, was Vice-Chair for projects in Horizon Europe. An established international public speaker, he has given many key-note papers and addressed audiences throughout Europe and beyond and at a global summit in Moscow.

During 2010-11, Terence was elected to Mayor of Sandwich, Kent and Speaker of the Cinque Ports, during which time he met with speakers of the House of Commons and House of Lords. He has made several television appearances abroad and in the UK. In 2019, he was president of the jury at the Silafest Film Festival, Veliko Gradište, Serbia.
